Just because it is the going price doesn't mean it isn't overboard. I understand NOS 20-30 year old parts being high priced but this crank is not very old and not hard to find. I just don't get why people are willing to pay so much.

True enough but you don't find them everyday in such pristine condition as that set appears to be. If so, please divulge your sources. Wish I could find a set of XTR900 cranks & rings in such condition.
