What brake pads are people using on their U-brakes?

Need to replace the worn pads on my U-brake but unsure of what is available anymore?I take it they are the threaded cantilever type pads?

Also, I have some Exage Mountain cantilever brakes that need new pads, are the Shimano ones still available?

Re:

Any threaded stud brake pad will work, including those designed for road calipers.

My personal preference would be Aztec Control pads as they were around in the early nineties and still work very well today.
They are still manufactured, although the design is slightly different. A few places stock them.

This picture shows the older original design:

And these are the newer Aztec 2 Control pads:

I've also used v-brake pads on U-brakes too, the cartridge types are especially useful as pad replacement is much easier.

Re:

Ah thanks, that clears things up, this is the first u-brake I've worked on.

I believe I may have some threaded XT pads that were destined for my Shimano U braked bike, now sold. Let me know if interested.

Just ordered some Fibrax pads, £5 for the set (4pads), as they look the most like what is already fitted.
