Anyone else had to adjust their brake levers upwards to prevent any future brake lever - top tube contact. Frame is an old 98 IF Deluxe, got a shortish Thomson, high-rise bars, 2 fat ahead spacers and it still contacts on "full lock" !! Do you lot just put up with it ??
Already got one bad scrape on the top tube where the previous owner had the same problem...

Yeah, happens on the P20, it means the stem is the correct oldskool height
I didn't alter anything

just try not to turn your bars full lock! i had this for a while on a marin but never found the need to turn my bars full lock anyway? :?

On some bikes I put transparant protective material exactly at that spot. Doesn't save the lever, but it will save your bikes paint - normally

I know you don't turn full lock, I meant if I crash... And before anyone says, I try not to crash
Anyone got a piece of helicopter tape they can send me ??

Mine used to catch on the top tube. Me and a friend used to aim to get the loudest 'ping' when crossing up mid air.

I have come across this problem loads and ended up using rubber lever grips.

They work rearly well and keep ones pinkies from getting cold in the winter! The rubber heat shrink tube stuff works in the same way.
if you know what i am on about would you explane it to me :?

Cheers,Al

yeah had this problem on a '98 Deluxe with a set of Float's top caps hitting the down tube. Pace Carbon Armour directly underneath sorted it.

bergtec used to make solid carbon fibre sections that clipped around the tube to try & prevent such brake lever impacts. while I dont know how well they work exactly, 1 of my bikes has a fairly thin tubed downtube & the trails around here are super rocky. I've used a piece of carbon fibre sheet bolted to the downtube (underside bottleboss location) for when rocks ping off the front tyre & it seems to have worked going by the marks to the carbon.
if you spin the bars quick enough carbon patches or helicopter tape are only going to stop scratches, it'll still dent (RIP 92 s-works steel)
