Brake boosters

I have just bought one through this forum - many thanks to the seller for a good description and despatch.

My question is, having never used one before, how will it actually work to improve the braking performance?

I am assuming that they are designed to prevent the forks or seat stays from flexing when operating the V brakes.

However, the mounting holes are elongated which means that it is possible for the brake bosses to move laterally when the brakes are operated - seemingly this defeats the purpose of the booster?

Am I missing the point?

When the bolts are tightened up it won't move, not in my experience and I've never heard of any other moving either.

Have a look at your stays before fitting with the brakes full on and after when fitted. You should notice that there's little to no flex.
