Hi, I have a Bontrager Race Lite, believe from 1996 which takes a 26.8MM seat post and I have measured the diameter of the tube(outside) of the seat post at 29.4.....Is this the right measurement???I cannot find a seat clamp this size, am I measuring it wrong???...Please help as this is pretty much the last thing I need!!

Cheers
Ben

Bikepedia says it needs a 28.6mm clamp. The extra width may be the thickness of the paint:

I wouldn't trust this though as I bought a seat clamp for my 96 Privateer S according to the information on Bikepdia and it was too small. I think I ended up getting a 30.0mm one which fitted fine. I can check when I get home. I didn't need a front mech. Take readings for the diameter exactly where the clamps will go on as it is not necessarily constant down the length of the tube.

It will most likely be a 28.6 tube, with external butting up to 29.6 or so at the top of the tube. There are plenty of 30mm clamps around, that were made for just this type of tube.
