Bontrager Privateer

Little Mark

After complete bike - prefer small frame (15"), but can just about manage a medium (17.5").
Prefer one that needs little or no work with good paint/decals. I just want to ride!

End of the week bump.

Privateer's weren't that great, Trek made and not so well finished, do you need mean an Off Road made in the Santa Cruz factory? Pre 97.

Mine was fantastic too ride. Just too bloody small, and I had backache after riding it. Very short headtube on them!

Was sad to see it go.

And I still am! :(

Good luck with your search

Not in my experience, same build quality, tube sets and design, arguably more usable if you want to run a suspension fork too as 1 1/8" head tube. I really liked my Privateer.

Mine was a '95, with a 1" h/t. Something to check when you find one buddy

I defo want a Privateer - partly due to reading previous threads about them, but also the fact it's the last bike to bear the Bontrager name. Don't think Keith gets enough recognition for his design and engineering skills, so I want to own a piece that I can enjoy.
I missed one on eBay a few months ago; that's the last one I saw for sale.
