Bomber 55 help!

I bought myself a project bike this last week, first one since covid kicked off. I've missed having a project, the new to me bike will feature in a future thread.

The vendor gifted me a mullered set of Bomber 55 forks. I've had some success rebuilding older Rockshox & Fox forks. I have nothing to loose on the Bombers as they were free and I would like to use them :).

The forks feel rough, no smooth movement at all but the first problem is the foot nut on one side has been mullered! If I have to wreck it to remove it is there a source for replacements?

I've not had much experience with marz forks, like you have fettled rs and fox. There seems to be way more marz fork spares out there than most others so I'd expect you'd not have much difficulty finding any bits you need.

Shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement. Just keep some good pics of it before removal. Marz forks are pretty straight forward to rebuild. Just have to use the right oil and make sure to pack the voids between the dust seals and oil seals with slickoleum. Helps to keep things butter smooth.

What model 55?

I managed to remove the mullered foot nut by drilling some 2mm holes into it and tapping it out with a screwdriver & hammer.

I was then greeted with this:

It looks like this is where I stop! I don't think it will be economical to start replacing all the internals.

Stanchions aren't too bad though, so may come in use for spares for someone.

Those do look pretty worked over. But Marzocchi "Usually" are pretty resistant to complete and total failure. Although I have never worked on the Travel Adjust (TA) versions, only the RC3. If nothing else I'm sure you could part out the uppers and lowers on ebay and at least get some parts money for them.

Guessing that CR damper with the yellow cap is also still good? IF so that would be a great buy for someone with a bad RC3 cart, common on the pre Evo RC3's.... someone like me :)
