What do you think.

I've never had a ten speed, looking for a project over the winter.

That's 319 pounds (I don't have that key).

It looks like an okay bike but the act it has been resprayed and now lost it's identity (hence much of it's value) I'd probably give it a miss in all honesty. Bob Jackson really is a name you want to retain down the side of your bike, very well made and sought after. I suppose you could add some graphics providing the seller can prove it is actually a BJ.

Have a look at http://www.worldclasscycles.com as they are the main people in North America for Bob Jacksons.
I think as long as its a genuine BJ than for $500 thats a great buy. It has decent components and with a set of decals that you can easily buy either from worldclass or from Bob Jackson you will have a great machine.
I dont believe its lost its identity with a respray, maybe with the lack of details, and this paint job looks good, is a nice colour, most likely nicer than the vintage fluoro yellow and green :)
I think bikes with a distinct paint job, colour and finish details, such as a Colnago art decor master, may lose some of their identity with a one colour respray though I dont think this one did. I think some machines need a new identity as their time specific colour/combination detract or cheapen the classy steel frame that lies beneath.
These are just my opinions and I do respect Tels as he is dealing with this stuff on a daily basis.

Great points Mr Dyer. My problem is I view bikes from a resale angle. In my opinion it has lost it's identity, well it's true identity but as you say it's original guise does not have much place on the streets of today (although that is part of its appeal). At the end of the day if it is an original BJ then it is going to be a superb bike!

+1

I don't think mine looks too out of place these days, but maybe I'm biased

yours looks great Mike 8)
I just pictured the flouro yellow and green combination and had visions of a typical eighties/nineties sort of unclassic and unstylish type finish all trippy, trance vomit inducing type thing. Most likely nothing like it originally was finished, but thats what I pictured  .
Thats not a facepalm, thats me holding my hand over my mouth trying not to vomit
I'm Australian so generally green and yellow is a favourite combo but not flouro/dayglo. Theres a time and a place and the times been and gone and the place is somewhere far away :)
A few times I've almost ordered a Jackson its always been green and white.

Wasn't picturing anything remotely like yours as the yellow and white work great together.
To be honest I doubt the original would have been as bad as I think as I dont think theres ever been a Jackson I thought was bad, and I dont think I would not buy one purely because of the colour as if I didnt like it, like this chap, I could always get it painted.
