Due to various reasons, I think I may have to sell my 1996 S-Works which I recently bought
The bike has, to my knowledge, never been ridden and is effectively NOS. The condition certainly supports this. Apparently it was a gift from Specialized to an employee of the M2 manufacturers. Never ridden, the bike was imported to the UK by the owner, then sold to the person I bought it from.

The frame number is M2 SW 1.

When I received the bike there was some storage damage to the front. The forks have just come back from Tim at TFT who personally serviced them. A replacement 'standard' NOS champagne colour Judy brace has been fitted since the last photos, as the standard one was strangely warped. Apart from the elastomers starting to harden, everything is now fine.

The front wheel had a slight buckle. I am waiting for my LBS to re:tension both wheels and replace a couple of spokes to the front which were bent near the nipple.

Apart from the above, the bike has a few paint chips here and there, but overall looks to be in showroom condition.

The specifications are:

Frame 1996 M2 S-Works
Fork Rockshox Judy FSX
Headset Diacompe
Stem Specialized Ti stem
Handlebar Specialized Thermoplastic...rich plum colour...nice
Grips Specialized
Brakes Red Marinovative
Brake Levers Avid CNC
Shifters X-Ray Gripshift
Front Derailleur Paul Components
Rear Derailleur Paul Components
Cassette Tioga Ti 8 Speed
Chain Havn't looked!
Cranks Specialized
Chainrings I'll check
Bottom Bracket Havn't looked!
Pedals None
Quick Releases Specialized Ti (I think)
Rims Mavic Ceramic 227 with Red Spline Drive Nipples. Ti Tie-dyed spokes.
Hubs Hugi
Tyres Specialized Ground Control....still have chalk on them!
Saddle I have put a Selle Italia Flite item on the bike...the one that came with it was hideous.
Seatpost Specialized
Weight Dunno....light!

Here is a slideshow link (if it works)

I would like to offer it here before going to Ebay. The bike owes me £970 at the moment excluding the wheel work.....so looking for a bit more. Postage via courier to mainland UK would cost £25 plus £5 for bubble wrap. That is what my last bike cost to send..if you know differently, please let me know. Of course collection is fine. I'm located in Penarth, near Cardiff.

Mods...I hope this advert meets your approval...not exactly your requirements I think
:?:

I will accept cleared cheque or bank transfer only...paypal is too expensive but will be accepted if you pay the charges...fair enough I think.

Cheers Carl

If you do decide to split dibs on:

Fork Rockshox Judy FSX

Shifters X-Ray Gripshift

Front Derailleur Paul Components

Rear Derailleur Paul Components

Cassette Tioga Ti 8 Speed

Cheers Chris.

Splitting

Thanks for your interest.
I really can't see me splitting this bike...would somehow seem a very wrong.
But you never know :?
Cheers, Carl
PS If I do, XRay Gripshifts already have a dibs on them.

Cash Cow

As above - will be surprised you are able to sell the complete bike for big money - that £1k figure is the domain for Klein collectors only... ;-) .

Can I get in line for the wheelset, the brakes and levers and the bars if you wind up splitting...

Neil

Sorry if I'm being stupid and missed it somewhere  but what size is it ?

I doubt I can get the money together at the moment ( and I am supposed to be selling bikes not buying at the monent  )

But!! I always wanted one of these :) but something else always came up :? lovely, lovely bike and if I can somehow get the cash I'll grab your hand off mate :)

I'm only down the road in Swansea as well :)

Thanks for the replies chaps....all dibs and dabs noted
Really don't want to split but will if the crunch comes to it. I may have 'shot from the hip' as really I need to wait to see how my Christmas bonus at work pans out. But I don't think it will be great and in a mad moment of untypical generosity I bought the Mrs a new sewing machine for Xmas that set me back a few more quid than I bargained for :?
As for £1k or thereabouts for the complete bike...is that really so much :?:
Sure it ain't a Klein, but this is a unique build, and never ridden. Hard to value I guess.
Anyway, I'll keep in touch with those who have expressed an interest.
Cheers. Carl

I'd also like to gauge interest in the wheelset & dibs if that's cool on the tyres.

Shame to split but makes financial sense :(
