Bling... For bits I need.

I'm lucky enough to have a rotary polishing set-up here in my workshop.

So here's my idea...

I'm now skint but still need one or two bits to finish my project off.
Including some light-weight pedals, a decent seat post/clamp, some grips and some alloy fasteners for the front chain rings.

Current seat post is 27.2 and needs a shim so will be 29.(whatever) the OD of the frame tube is 31.8

So in exchange I'm prepared to set to work on whatever you want polished.

Obviously I don't want to do 10 hours work for a £10 part but similarly I'm not going to give something a quick rub in exchange for a £50 seat post.

This is based on trust of course, I'll try and be honest about if something is do-able and we can work from there.

As this isn't a commercial service please don't ask me "how much to do this"

Is this do-able chaps?

Strange you are skint and have a home polishing setup but are not receptive to offers to polish for cash?

Not trying to allege a scam or anything, but why not make a few bucks?

FWIW I have NOS blue or purple Oury grips, a very nice set of red SRP chainring bolts and a set of silver Caramba double barrels in need of a polish - but the bits don't match, probably aren't the color you need and I'm US bound so shipping is automatically an issue.

....but as somebody who was intrigued by the offer I have questions.

Color and condition options would help (red, new, old but polish-able silver).

As for the seat post - does the 27.2 seatpost fits and you need a clamp that fits a 31.8" outer diameter seat tube? That sounds like a standard 31.8 mm seatpost clamp. Not sure a shim would be need at all. A shim would go around the seatpost and into the seat tube to make up the difference in diameter between your seatpost and the seat tube inside diameter.

Not trying to be grammar police either - just think you should try to be more specific about the parts and possibly clarify the seatpost/clamp issue.

It's quite simple... I work in my shed for fun not profit .

I allocated a certain amount of money to this build... Now it's gone I thought that it would be fun to offer to polish some stuff for swaps, which seemed to be very much in keeping with the ethic of this site.

Clarification... On re-reading I'll agree that what I have written is confusing, which is embarrassing as I'm a journalist by profession!

Clamp needed 31.8

Current seat post is 27.2 and needs a shim so I need a larger version. Which I presume is a std size (sorry because I'm new to this so don't know the standard sizes off the top of my head)

Colour of parts needed... Immaterial. There is always oven cleaner and elbow grease!

Condition of parts needed. New, second hand.... whatever.
Basically they need to do the job and look good or have the ability to look good given a little work

I'm in Stamford, Lincolnshire.

If the seat tube OD is 31.8 you're most likely looking at 29.4 for a steel frame...

...and you're probably on a hiding to nothing offering 'any' kind of service on here; all you'll get is negativity that will make you wonder why you bothered :?

I wasn't trying to be a jerk.... I just have some cranks that need a polishing (and a rare Caramba spider) but my supply of parts schwag is limited.

What frame are you building up? Even it is bare with few identifying marks people here much more knowledgeable than I will probably be able to ID it with a photo and find the right size seatpost so the shim wouldn't be needed (which would be more desirable IMO).
