bike shipping to Grmany

I split into 2 boxes and send with parcelmonkey (using parcel force). Good service and good price

Re:

I used DHL to post a bike to Belgium a while ago, might be similar to posting to Germany. It wasn't cheap (~£120) but it was an expensive bike (~£1000) and I wanted to be sure it was safe, and insured if anything went wrong.
I asked some cheaper couriers about insurance and wasn't entirely satisfied with some of the answers I got, particularly regarding what would constitute secure packaging in their eyes.
Also I did initially try with another company, I think DX, but they didn't show up on the agreed day. They actually turned up three or four days later. I think this might have been a lucky escape.
This was for a 29er and I posted it in a cardboard bike box for a 29er which did also take it over some of the max dimensions / volumetric weight limits for some couriers, so there may be cheaper options, and DHL themselves would likely have been cheaper for a 26" bike.
