Best Retro Road Bike Helmet?

Hi all,

Just wondered what people recommend as the best retro looking helmet about at the moment?

My road bikes approx. 1984, I have some retro jerseys, so now after a stylish racy looking helmet to finish off the look! I know some will say just don't bother and wear a cap if it's about looks, but I do believe in helmet safety and would no doubt give friends a telling off for not wearing one, so not wearing one myself would be beyond hypocritical! Therefore I need something that does both, retro looks and a degree of safety.

So far I've found the Giro Reverb, which looks quite cool with the detachable cap style peak and looks well vented for this style of helmet, it also says it fits snug round the head so shouldn't sit up like most road helmets do, plus its available in all matt black, and we all know black is slimming!

I've heard of Bern and a few others, but a lot of these look far too skater like and have next to no vents so can't see them working well for cycling.

Any suggestions welcome!

You could always wear the cap over the helmet, this is even cooler.

Cinelli made some smashing banana helmets, still new.

Yes I've seen those Cinelli 'helmets' before, they do look pretty cool, and as a medium usually I might just get away with the 58cm one, but I imagine it's akin to gaffer taping a washing up sponge to your head in terms of protection!

Ah I see, a cap over the Cinelli helmet, thats cool, I was picturing a cap over a modern helmet, would need to be a big cap!!

It's been a crap day,due a day off tomorrow but got to go in instead of riding, on the back of 5 consecutive 12 hour days then the image of some one gaffer taping washing up sponges to their head has made me laugh out loud! Thank you I'm still grinning it's the small things isn't it!

lol.. glad it amused, now I just need to find a Cinelli stencil..

I may mock but I did drop them an email asking if they know when they'll have any 58s back in stock, seems like best option at the mo!

Nowhere near as good looking as the original. There is an original Cinelli on eBay if you're feeling flush - £70!
