The decals can be placed on top and Greg states this with his application instructions
However, if placed on top I find they stand out on a nicely painted frame because they are a matte/satin finish
Clear-coating the decals will not only protect them better from the elements and cleaning but, it will also make them nice and glossy like the rest of the frame
Which is why I have occasionally ordered the glossy UV clear-film decals from Velocals when I've already got a finished frame

Looks like under clear it is then, hopefully they won't take more than a week or two to arrive.
Now need to decide who to use, thinking stove enamel and the top tube needs checking so guess that it's either Bob Jackson or Argos. There's Mercian but they're not on the recommended list.
It's only going to be single colour, flamboyant red, plus the existing chrome, I'm thinking Bob Jackson, not read of any complaints and are a fair bit cheaper than Argos. Or is the Argos finish so much better it's worth the 50%'ish extra?
