Best Free Anti Virus download?

I keep recommending it, but Comodo Internet Security is a sweet grape amongst bitter plums.

Spybot -S&D is a good thing to run as well.

:)

+2 for AVG, ran it on all my machines including this one running vistaster, no problems whatsoever, meaning if I have to buy an antivirus, I will buy the full blown AVG.

Spybot S&D is good, as is malware bytes, and superantispyware, I have them all and run them all on maintenance day. All freeware.

The mac, I have a paid for virus barrier X6, as Mac do get viri but not as often as winblows.

AVG has something for Mac OSX iirc. . . .

I used to run Spybot quite frequently but somehow managed to sufficiently eff-up the wifes laptop that it needed a reformat and clean install of XP.. she was not best amused (she had all the files etc. for her website on there and we don't run backups  ).. so I don't do that any more..

+1 for AVG. Used it for several years now, no problems so far.

The latest free version 2011 made my machine Win7 crash, badly. Had to roll back and re-install V9. Now perfect again.

I have also used AVG for years and on all versions of windows. Can't get 2011 version to install though. May be a good thing!

It downloads the installer that then fails at about 30%

Anyone got AVG 2011 free successfully installed on Win7?

Maybe microshaft is closing the loop holes that allow the freebies that work access to work on their machines.

Windows defender sucks big time.

i had until recently used AVG and Avast together, howvere AVG now
saying it wont install update until i kick Avast to the kerb,

I also use spybot which is again free, Norton is the work of the devil, bloated and intrusive and shite too IMO

Malwarebytes has a free scan that I've been using for a while.
I've just switched to Avira , after my ESET licence ran out. Any good?
