BB recommendations + Replacement bearing supplier

Hi guys , looking for some advice on bottom brackets..

Now I know that Shimano sealed units are one of the most durable and long lasting ones out there, but they are heavy...

I am looking for a square taper bottom bracket, length has to be around 103mm- 107mm. as I currently have a 110mm and I think I can loose a few mm off that, in fact , I think I could loose around 10mm,,according to the tape measure..

The Main criteria is lightweight, so Ti axle etc etc...

Seen this one, http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=19635

but its italian thread so wont fit...

Anyone recommend anything else ?

I can't remember who, but someone here bought an IRD one. Looked lovely and was cheap (well, not cheap, but cheap for what it was).

Twas me :D fitted lovely, runs very smooth. Personnally i couldn't justify £80+ on a bottom bracket, and the only XT ones left seem to be in odd sizes.

Thanks for all you replies fella, but I was in the workshop tonight, and I have found one :) :) right size and everything... well chuffed...

The only thing though is the bearings arn't the best, they are 6903Z .. any one know where I can get these from easily .. ?

Nice to know royce are still on the go, had some hubs and BB in the past and they were excellent , well apart from the BB .. creaking like a creaky door.

Once again thanks for the suggestions... but if you could help me with the bearings now that would be even better

Dont ask much do I ....

Hi Ed, that would be fantastic, I'll double check the size and get back to you... :) really appreciate that.. :)

I picked up a couple of roller bearings from Rollerball Bearings in Nottingham (0115 986 9333). These were for an Action Tec BB which I have had for the last 15 years and I think I have only had to replace them three times, only once because of roughness.
Action Tech used to require a special spanner for fitting / removal which didn't come with the BB and cost silly money, but this was a long time ago and may have changed. Great BB though..
