Dirt Disciple
sorry me again.

My clockwork is hopefully going off tomorrow to be b blasted (guess there are advantages of your wife being an NDT inspector at a aerospace plating company :D)

I am really struggling to remove part of the bottom bracket. the part I cannot remove is on the right side (drive side I think this is?) it has 2 flats that looks like it will accomodate a 32mm spanner.
I have fasten my spanner to this and am trying to turn it clockwise. even locked on with a swift tap of the hammer to try and crack the seal but its not budging, just ripping chunks out of my spanner and also my thumb :P

any suggestions on how to remove this

cheers

use the proper tool. Adjustables will not work well. though a

though leave it in and get it out later ? it'll protect the threads when sprayed..... possibbly

Shoudl be 36mm flats ?

Anyway they are like this, have this one and it got mine out and didn't make a dent and was easy after the first release. Nothing else was budging them.

though if you have a large diameter 'bolt and nut' lying around and a wrench that fits them properly (not adjustable, unless they clamp on torque), then put the bolt through from the inside, with maybe a washer for good luck to aid better 'grip'.
tighten the nut from the outside onto the bolt. iirc as you tighten the bolt it'll clamp the cup if large enough (use long socket from inside if needed to help it grip the cup at first) and be in the correct direction for unscrewing.

It may/maynot work on really tight bits.

Don't forget to let penetrating oils do their job first.
