Bar tape?

So many options available, any recommendations for an old Carlton road bike?

I previously had white foam-type stuff on which looked great for about eight minutes. I've now removed that and am running without tape, thinking I'd be able to pick some up locally, but not had much luck there as everyone only seems to stock black or white. I was thinking a brown would appear cleaner for longer and match the saddle. I notice Brooks do a nice brown leather tape, any reason not to get that?

Cotton. White if you don't mind cleaning it occasionally and can accept it will go greyish/off white. Or black if you don't mind black.

Or a colour to match your frame colour.

if you wish to keep British one period correct option would be GEM

this is a textured plastic tape made in both non-adhesive & adhesive forms offered in several colours

was employed at the OEM level by a number of cycle manufacturers

NOS rolls regularly show up on venues such as gumtree & ebay

Blimey, not seen that tape since it adorned such bikes as the Raleigh Hustler lol

Tressorex / Tressostar for me :).

Newbaum's cloth tape is simply the best. Huge range of colours, great feel, thick, sticks well and each roll has more than enough for each bar.

Yeah, I get the ‘black only’ thing after having white tape last time and seeing how oily and grubby it got in no time.

Will look into the cloth tapes. At least then I can wash it or replace every spring.

Whilst searching similar threads I found this which would be ideal, but too expensive.
