and super interestingly enough, he has an old fisher Mt Tam. Now forget that this has some modern XTR cobbled on to it, check out the STEM. Its the first application of a clamp on stem. The fork is threaded, bit with a plain section brazed in at the top. Height ajustment came by sliding the stem up and down the steerer. . . father of our modern Ahead design. Between this, and the dia compe suystem, we have what we have today (oviously excluding the pace RC100 setup, which was another variation in the theme, but I don't think we can say stems welded to the steerer ever really caught on. . .)
