Cross Baiku.

2nd ride on the new bike. 1st proper ride. Woods open up and trails unfold in front of these tiny thin tyres. This bike's fast. Beautiful fast. In tune. I may have found a new soulmate. Am I cheating on the Merlin? Maybe. This cross bike is all I need a mountain bike to be. Spin away from the barky dogs. Mangle noise. Listen. Stop. Look.   Not much mech left. And at 180 degrees to where it should be. Oohh, ouch, my spokes. Oohh, ouch ouch my mech, oh f*ck my frame! Gutted. Praying this is back bendable. Done this on a ti dropout before, but skinny steel? 5 mile walk home in bike shoes wasn't fun. Nearly late for meeting in London. Gutted. Worst ride of my life.

oh that's such a bummer. :(

what caused it? stick? crash?

should be ok though with some careful tweaking from a friendly mechanic, we use the genuine shimano dura ace alignment tool for the drop outs, you can get them back to perfect with those, just takes patience and skill.

my boss sorted a badly crash damaged kona a while back, now my old saturday lad races it and yours looks perfectly straight by comparison!

It was some sort of twiney tree branch thing. Clematis or ivy or something.

I am basically on hold emotionally until she comes out of the operating theatre on Sunday.

Jon, thanks. Maybe we can all hold a vigil and put our hands on our hearts at 10am Sunday morning to let her know we are rooting for her.

go back to where it happened with a massive v8 powered chainsaw and "do" every tree you can see!

LOL.

I nearly went all Anakin 'Sith' Skywalker and wasted all the vine like foliage i could see with a napalm thrower. ('cept I haven't got one obviously) (and I work woth nature not against her too)

well, i think it was of those random occurance mechanicals.

It was particularly evill twine. Very strong. Very twisty.

Was spinning at quite a rate so it did get a good wind in before it went boing.
