2 questions

How do I know which set are front and which are rear?

How do i fix this little problem? Tried loctite but broke off the moment it touched the frame. I have other avid spares - can i replace the barrel with another?

AVID VEES

Hiya, that top set in the pic is setup for rear! indicated by pad linning direction,as for the broken pin to give vee tension,i have found spuerglue left overnight never a problem? think about it once its mounted on the lug it shouldnt fall out because its "up" against the lug face etc. try gluing with "miterbond" and this is 2part with an activator the cures the joint, but leave overnight before fitting to your bike. also when mounting leave the brake spring "off tension" until its bolted up,this stops strain until in position. hope this helps!

Also clean with lots of acetone or nail varnish remover first and allow to dry as this will make the bond much better

epoxy resin will secure that pin nicely, its cheap these days.just a little drop will do it. leave 24h min.

as mentioned above the brake arms are ready for the rear as per the pad direction. apart from that v brake arms are the same for front and rear...its the noodle and pad setup that determines where it should be installed. the front noodle(pipe thingy) is 130/135 degrees and the rear is good old 90 degrees.

good luck mate.

Thanks gents for the help. I had tried to loctite it but it broke off immediately.

Don't know anything about expoy resin, maplin sell this though - look right?

Got two little probs now

How do I remove the glue leftovers in the pin-hole?
How do I glue it and not seal it to the rest of the unit thus making it unadjustable?

Hmmmm

Nail varnish remover will get the old glue off and then mix a small amount of the glue and just paint it on to the pin only then push it in the hole and bobs our uncle 8)

Had the sme problem -but if you place the pin back in the socket and then bolt the whole thing onto the brake boss -tighten the bolts and it's all held in place and works perfectly.

Panic over!
