Availability of vintage campagnolo rear clusters/free wheels

Hey guys. I'm thinking of buying an old 80's bike and saw a nice one with Campagnolo victory grouppo throughout. I've used Shimano or Suntour drivetrains all my life and I know that Shimano compatable 6 and 7 speed stuff is still available. But what about Campy? I don't want to plunk down on a beautiful old bike and not be able to replace the drivetrain if/when worn out.

Re:

Does Campag victory index, or is it friction shift? If the latter, it doesn't matter what freewheel you use

Re:

Victory and Triomphe are friction shift groups, I think the last ones Campag made before they were dragged kicking and screaming into the world of indexing.

So yes, you can use any old freewheel or even a cassette. In fact, a modern freewheel will probably be better because the teeth are more accurately cut to cope with indexing. This also means better fritcion shifting. Just stay away from SRAM freewheels - thy're shite!

BTW, did Campag even make freewheels? Didn't Regina make the freewheels that went with Campag groups?

Re:

Thanks guys - much appreciated. I thought Victory might cross over the friction shifting/indexing divide as you seem to be able to get both types of hubs, although I suppose I shouldn't link one technology to the other.

Re:

I don't think the Victory RD had an adjusting barrel at the back where the cable goes in,
so there's no way to tune the indexing.
