well, it's the local recycling centre..

There was an old BSO in the shed when we moved in, double-checked with landlord that they didn't want it so, with the hope of spying some discarded retro gold, took it to the local recycling centre (dump/tip)..

No such bloody luck, old bikes are chucked in the designated metal skip with all other metal waste (apart from really heavy stuff like washing machines/cookers/fridges/freezers)..

Tsk.. what a waste (if I'd known I'd have freecycled the bike  )

I was way disappointed.. they call it a recycling centre yet cannot accept paint unless it's gone hard in the 'tin' or has had cat litter or woodshavings added to it to make it non-liquid.. among other not really recycling atrocities

where we used to live had separate places for paint (which was recycled into the community to help poor people decorate their homes), bikes, anything that could be re-used, in fact... this place just dumps it into skips, presumably to be crushed later..

Pointless...

There's no money for anything else to happen. It's actually going to get worse now, not better.

Still. My dad bought a flat recently that was repossessed. Yesterday, he found out there is a shed that he also bought in the car park.

It's full of... bikes! And he described one as "really expensive". I'm waiting for photos.

caister tip now sells for a small bit o cash all bikes they get plus a whole bunch of other stuff.i had a look the other day but they were mostly p.o.s stuff.at least they are recycling them tho//

yup me and my dad had a clear out of his shed a couple of years ago he must of had about 20 old cans of paint in there, took them to the local tip only to be told "sorry we can't accept old paint" my dad was "so what do we do with it then" we were told to just stick it in the dustbin.

obviously it's going to do much less damage being stuck into a landfill
