Are all presta valve cores replacable?

As per title, is the core portion of a presta valve that resides inside the valve stem replaceable, and if so then what do I need for the job? The locking mechanism on my Blackburn track pump is a little rough and sometime results in a bent threaded stem - one of which has just snapped off.

Like most people I have a large pile of flatted tubes 'waiting to be repaired' (yeah, right!) so can I swap the valves out? I use Continental tubes for the most part since I get a good price via my club.

Cheers, Gareth.

The only way to replace the core in most presta valves (but not all - some are removable) would be to make a small hole in the tube directly underneath the valve and then with a pair of pliers unscrew and remove the knurled knob, the core will drop into your waiting hand.

Of course then you'd have a small hole to repair!

No can do!

I heard back from the Conti rep on this one - the valves in the tubes inside their range of tubs are replaceable, but not the ones in the bog standard inner tubes. Too bad, I guess I'll just wait for the next flat ...

Cheers to all, Gareth.
