Hi Folks,

Just a shot in the Dark but if anyone has any of the Araya built Muddyfox bikes that they dont use, please let me know and I will pay fair price.

Now I'm reaching middle age I need a purpose in life and its pretty harmless aint it?

That will be one of these then owned and ridden at this years' Mountain Mayhem by mrkawasaki

was the muddy fox courier one as i remember it having large flange hubs and araya rims
wish i had it now

Sure was! There was a range of them; Seeker;Pathfinder; Sorcerer; Roadrunner; Adventurer; Laser; Limited edition; Aluminium Team Pro as well as the mighty Courier.

It all went downhill so to speak after Araya stopped making them. They are a Jap company. The bikes were made in Taiwan after that and the quality vanished.

If anyone has one of these old classics kicking around and doesnt use it, I would gratefully buy one.

That is a very interesing bike, what year was it made?

I have a Muddyfox Adventurer made by Araya, it has a little metal plate rivited to the headset tube which says made by Araya. All the other muddyfoxes I have seen only have a transfer of the paw print there. I would like to find the year it was made. The spec on thr bike is Suntour Alpine and its the most amazing bike to ride.

Does anyone know when Araya stopped making muddyfoxes?

Any information about the whole araya set up would be gratefully received.

Thanks

As far as I gathered info from google and Japanese friends, Araya is still 'selling' Muddyfox for Japanese market.

I am not sure if Araya is making these or, they buys from Taiwan today but I have heard that most of the frame of Araya bikes are now made in Taiwan because of it labor cost.

back in 80's, Toyo Frame in Japan was producing muddyfox frame and Araya assembled the bike then exported to UK.
according to a rumor, these two companies worked together to supply early Specialized bike but not sure about this - some says Miyata was doing this for Specialized, though.

So the question will be, 'when Araya start using frame from Taiwan?'
In this page, you can see Araya's catalogue from 1982 to 2002.

I hope it helps to find out where was the turning point?
