Anyone know anything about an Ulster Sports?

Hi everyone

When I was at my local bike workshop on Wednesday I saw an old looking dark blue racer round the back in the scrapheap area. It looked nice but incomplete, and like it would be too much of an effort to get her running, the frame said "ulster sports" on it. I left it at that, but googled the name when I got home, and saw that it may be a fairly old/rare bike. Does anyone know anything about these, like how old they are, how much I should expect to pay for one in pretty scruffy condition? I am possibly going to rescue her tomorrow.

Thanks in advance
Michael

Re:

Hi Michael, Raleigh did a Rudge version of there Lenton Sports called the Ulster Sport, it is name that goes back a way in Rudge history before there Raleigh days, I think it may of been on the Motor cycle side of the business. Price will always be based on condition, collectability and rarity, if it is a mid fifties Rudge, interesting, definitely worth saving, but don't hand over too much. Terry

Hi Terry, thanks for the info, when I searched online I did get mostly results relating to 1930s motorbikes with the odd bicycle result. It has a three speed trigger shift mounted on the crossbar. Usually that workshop has a policy of all bikes £40, but it doesn't look like she has her original rear wheel (no sign of a 3 speed hub) and there are no brakes. Depending on who is there I can maybe try and wangle a special deal, got a 1963 Raleigh Trent Tourist from there back in March, I paid them in unwanted spare parts :D
