Anyone here own a netbook?

I've been thinking about buying a netbook. I'm not much of a gamer. And I basically just need for basic things like going online, word processing, email, instant messaging and watching movies every now and then if i have to on the thing. I know i want to get a 10.2 inch wide screen netbook with 6-Cell battery, and one with a nice amount of hard drive space. The ones I've been looking at are 140G or 160G which is better. I'm open to suggestions to other ones i might have missed. My friend recommends degee. And I also want to ask if anyone here owns a net book and if you are happy with it, or wish it had something extra their netbooks dont have. I've trying to keep my price at no more than $300.

I've got an ASUS one myself... 1.6GHz Atom, 2GB RAM, 250GB harddisk and Windows 7 Starter. I think it's the 1001AH model I have.

Does everything I want it to do... your list, except no movies but DOSbox games ;-)

I do all my online work pretty much on my Acer netbook.

Don't know all the technical spec like Void, up there^^^ but it comes highly recommended and has shown no signs of getting bogged-down almost 18months on... and is packed full of photo's music and 'Office' documents.

Currently running old-age XP, but if it aint broke, and all that...... 8)

I did have an MSI Wind U100 netbook, which performed very well for 90% of the things I wanted to do.
They're good if you travel a lot as the smaller size is quite handy, and I took a 250Gb external hard drive with me full of films etc...
I also bought an external CD/DVD-RW drive for mine, as sometimes it came in handy for loading software drivers from CD etc...
In the end I had external drives & mice hanging from every available USB port on the thing!
I also wanted to use it to tune the ECU on my car, but the software I had to use conflicted with the smaller screen and was a pain in the ass to use.

Ultimately though it succumbed to sand and dust  I would certainly look at getting another one in the future, £250-300 should get you a decent one, just ensure that you will be happy looking at that small a screen for extended periods though, I find my current 15" laptop screen much easier on the eyes.

i have a netbook and laptop,i only ever use my netbook(samsung n110) for taking on holiday, the screen is simply too small for day to day use and the lack of a dvd drive also causes problems..they have their uses but laptop everytime for me :)
