anyone around batley, Morley area Or close by?

Just wandering if anyone would like to meet up and have a ride sometime? The area I'm thinking is just near bumpy between Morley and install. There's briar wood which is very large. I will look for other places to go from there as there is plenty around that area. If anyone knows of anywhere else in said area please feel free to stick you 2 penneth in, I'm not sure when or even if this will happen just throwing the idea out there and see what happens. Could meet up at needless pub just on edge of Morley and go from there?
Anyway I'll leave it at this for now and see what interest there is.
Thanks
Leigh

Re:

Hi leigh,

yes, there are a few regular (fairly) riders on the leeds/wakefield border. i'm just over in LS10 but not riding so often now due to time/health issues but hoping for a return to form(whatever that is!) next spring.

i'm not aware of any off-road routes around morley/birstall but would like to find it out. If it's 12+ miles and refreshments available then it's a ride!

Do you have transport? i ask as the 'official' rides in this region can be well spread out, requiring a journey beforehand to the riding. Apart from that 'doorstep' rides where people just rock up from nearby can cut out the travel nicely.

And, what do you ride, old bikes?

Re:

Hi, yeah I don't mind travelling, other half has a estate car purposely for picking stuff up and taking stuff places for me haha. Lucky I know!
I've just got back in to mtb, was well into it as a teen and have done bits and bats in years between so haven't got the collections some have but I have 2 that I can choose from at the minute, a old townsend with Reynolds 501 tubing, rigid so it's taking some getting used to after having suspension forks on last few bikes but it's nice to ride all the same, I also have a muddy Fox rock n roll crmo, neither bikes are special in any way but the townsend rides well and the muddy Fox at the minute is in bits while I decide what route to go with it.
I'm gonna build a decent bike around one of the frames I have already and then when I have everything to put on a better frame I'm gonna buy something better than what I have. Maybe a retro specialized or a Raleigh m trax as they are both bikes from my youth that I wanted and could never get.
I don't mind riding through winter and I don't mind a bit of road riding with the odd off-road bit for good measure, I know a lot of places around Leeds area as that's where I'm from originally, horsforth area was my neck of the woods so canal toepath and plenty of other places nearby. Would be good to get a few local ish and get something regular going on. Maybe once a week or whenever at different locations near to different people within a certain amount of miles, am sure there's plenty around and plenty of people too, so let's see what happens
