any need for non-suspension corrected forks?

Right I've picked up an Apollo BSO for the missus which has suspension front forks (suntour m-2000). All they seem to do is add unwanted weight as the travel is only 50mm. As the travel is that small would I be ok with standard forks? Its one of these.

That travel is fine and greater than quite a few suspension forks used on here.
It'll take the pain of pot holes out and hitting curbs and fine for bridleways etc.. Since it's a BSO I would just leave them on as you'll still have it warranty to go and annoy the 'BSO sales shop' with in a few months.
