Again im looking at bows and again im utterly flummoxed as to how to know what to look out for.
Used to play with them as a kid and i occasionally have a hankering for getting one.

Mid-hankering.
Now, i dont want to pay over £100, and id prefer traditional English longbow over one of those horrible looking, multi-fangled compound things, and the recurve im not keen on its look. A plain ,simple but properly made longbow in very useable condition :? I wouldnt know what to look for.

Anyone here got any advice ? Or perahps a bow they'd like to part with

Bit of a low budget. So many variables.

I had a Gary Evans that shot in competition. There's one of his basic ones in an outfit on eBay now.

Handy guide with some interesting points that wouldnt have come to light without it im a furniture maker so understand timber, moisture content etc so wouldnt just string it up. But things like pin knots i'd have considered a major no no but im seeing them present in bows costing a fair bit
Confirms the lack of knowledge
I reckon any quality bow will be pricey even 2nds, and i'd be bidding against those who know a hell of a lot more than me.
Probably just opt for one of the above kits and see how it goes. Which will be smooth until i embed an arrow in a nice bit of furniture
