Won a netbook took 2 weeks to arrive was listed as new but without the original box. Arived today to find it all rattling around in a box with no packing materials and a crack in the plastic
Contacted through ebay this is the reply i got.

I never listed the item as boxed, the item is new however 6 months old. Please send me a picture of the crack as this was not something I am aware of at all. Other than the fact you are not happy with how it was boxed I am not sure that the packaging is a problem.

Time to get ebay involved i think.

I feel your pain, as I had a SLR lens sent to me in a brown foolscap paper envelope, no packaging material. On inspection of the lens it was fine, no problems, so I just ripped into the vendors feedback, have to be honest you know regarding the p & p as just how will they learn otherwise.

Mind I did get the lens ridiculously cheap and maybe the lack of packaging was just plain old sour grapes, but that is the chance one takes when selling on ebay, especially if you are that tight you go for a 99p listing

I had frames sent with wheels loose, frames just wrapped in bubble wrap, or plastic and packing tape. Had two very rare lights for my old lorry sent wrapped in nothing more than a couple of sheets of newspaper. Had plenty cameras and related gear sent loose in boxes, and no matter how many times I have pleaded I got so many guitars and amps sent in poor packaging from sellers, mainly in the USA. All swings and roundabouts though, as the majority have been beautifully prepared and survived the month long journey intact.

By the end I took to clearing how things will be packed with sellers before I bought.

I hope you took pics of the packaging, it sounds like you ought to be returning the item for a full refund. Unless you prefer to negotiate a good discount and buy a cover for it?

I meant one I used to have rather than of great age! They were lights that fitted into a custom spoiler unit.

That one was a boring old Eurocargo otherwise!

:)

I took receipt recently of a frame that had been cling filmed with a bit of bubblewrap on the corners.

It didn't really do much damage, and the frame was retro any way, but I'd not want a good frame sent that way.

A lot boils down to how much we are prepared to pay as buyers, and then how much the seller cares about you getting it in one piece.
