Another Brick Lane Bikes Kona, Bianchi Dave Yeats- EXPENSIVE

I once had a rear wheel rebuilt by them more than a decade ago. They did a fine, speedy and remarkably competitively priced job. As I was cycling home to east Ham, however, I was disturbed by an odd feeling in the rear wheel. A mile or so later there was a bang and rapid deflation of the tyre. On taking the tyre off, I realised the source of the strange feeling - they had somehow left a tyre lever inside the tyre!

All that good work - nearly ending in disaster!
Their wheel building service is I think £50 labour charge

To be fair, they probs charge to prices they do so they can cover the cleaning costs at the shop.

As ibbz would agree, that picture was probably post cleaning

All things aside, I like BLB too. Decent staff as mentioned, some unusual bits to be found and one of the last long standing stores still remaining there in the area. I still wish I could have checked if that De Rosa was really sold though...

I think it was about £15 back then inc replacement spokes. I'd had a nightmare wheel from On-one - about 3 weeks old, and riding along Shoreditch one day, plink, plink, plink - 4 spokes snapped. They had fixed in about two hours. While them losing a tyre lever in the wheel was memorable, it was the kind of mistake anyone could have made.

Totally agree with everything you’ve said.
My dad used to own a factory on princelet street off
Of brick lane - back in the 70ies - he sold it in I think 1982 - I remember how different the area used to be - the real East End - everything about it - undeveloped - lots of factories and industry - real old school generations long east end people with a Bengali community - it’s a different world and totally unrelated to what we have now
We do have the odd nook and cranny which still lingers

Much the same as the west end - especially around Carnaby Street and Covent Garden -
