Another '96 GT LTS build!

Well, BarneyBallbags seems to be doing the exact same thing as me, so I thought I'd start a thread too!

Picked up a 96 16" LTS for not-much-money, the aim being to build my 'Teen-dream' bike from the mid 90s.

I loved the british kit at the time, but couldn't resist the gimick-loaded yank frames and forks. The build will reflect what I did/would have bought.

I have some bits lurking in the shed already:
Flite Transalp
Suntour thumbies
Red Hope Ti-glide & Fatso, DB spokes, Red alloy nipples and Mavic 231s
XT rear mech
Club roost bars

Recently picked up:
95 Judy DH
NOS Panaracer Dart

Got some other bits lying around too...

Most of the stuff needs a REEEAAAL good clean/polish/paint, so this isn't gonna be an overnight build, but here's how she sits tonight:

Oh, and I only have enough room for 1 bike, so this it, and is gonna be properly used too.

I don't think there will be much competition, as yours will be finished WAY before mine!! I'm going to keep an eye on your build though because it sounds like it'll be lovely

I've just picked up some Manitou Mars 1s and a Syncros Stem for mine - the forks aren't strictly period-correct but I'm not too fussed - they look nice!

Looking at the decals on yours, I think mine might be a '95. What do you think?

95/96 is confusing me, yours has '96' style dropout/mech hanger and canti bosses, as does mine, but mine has no canti hanger on the rear; v-brakes only...

a 95 should have 2 bolt mech hanger, and canti bosses angled so that v brakes can't fit?

Weird.

From the decas it looks like yours is a '97 and Barney's is a '96. Perhaps the canti hangers were removed for '97?

Okay, but from 97 they had the Alu shock linkage and 'trunnion' style shock?

Perhaps mine is a late 2006/early2007?

Yeah, the canti bosses are at the right angle. On the 95s the bosses were at a right angle to the stays. You can see on yours they are angled towards the dropout, giving enough clearance.
