Pretty sure the guys been doing home ano.
If you take a look at the Thomson website, its warning against the coloured ano versions of its parts on the bay. They never offerd colours as being seen.. .
I think their concern is that parts have been etched too heavily prior to reanodising possible compromising strength. I can understand it, as its is a process that they aren't controlling so anything could be happening. Looks like the guy knows what he's doing though. .

and pretty colours. Long live the ano renaissance!

I have a Thomson Seatpost clamp from them in Purple. Quality looks 100%

Compared with the original, there is no visible difference apart from the colour. It certainly does not look as if any material is removed.

Don't get me wrong, I love Thomson. I can understand Thomson not condoning this as their product is being modified by someone other than themselves.

If their products are 40% stronger than all the competition, I am sure a bit of anodizing is not going to compromise anything. Of course the use of any modified part will invalidate the warranty from the manufacturer.

It never stopped us fitting speed springs to our rock shox, aluminium jockey wheels to our mech's and Paul Lasenby even drilled his XTR Chainset on his Team Marin BITD!

I am sure Thomson don't condone swapping out the bolts for ti ones either :-)

Cheers,

Chaser.
