Hi

So this beauty came to me recently...Hadn't seen one like it before so thought I'd have it out of curiosity more than anything! Its a Softride Power Wing MTB frame...yeah I know Softride? They seem to be better known for road bikes and triathalon monsters but this is their venture into the MTB world. Its of a 1997-98 vintage and from what I can gather was a top spec bike in its day...I found this via bikepedia:

http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Bike ... &Type=bike

Its something quite different and a definite talking point! From back in the days when people were trying all sorts of designs out for the first time! Admittedly this one never took off so its confined to the annuals of time! But could be a fun project for someone to build up?

Right now down to the frame...sizing it is difficult but from centre bb to centre top tube 18" ish...comes with Promax QR seat clamp and seatpost (seatpost 27.2mm X 380mm). Fox vanilla rear coil shock 165mm eye to eye. Shimano hollowtech BB, and Cane Creek C2 headset (needs an overhaul). Oh and bonus chain (the white bag in the pics!). There is some play in the linkages on the top tube arm and to be honest I think it could do with a tighten up. I have not ridden the bike myself so cannot comment on how it all works but it apparently has 6" travel!

As I say something completely different! (Cue Monty Python music!) so I've no idea what its worth based on original price of around £1700 for the complete bike. So I'm going to start out with £150 and I'm open to offers from one and all!

OK NOW JUST GOT NO IDEA WHAT ITS WORTH SO PM ME WITH OFFERS!

Cheers

Wook

promising title and you are not going to be disappointed when looking into the thread :)

did not see any of those frames before and its an interesting one.
you dont have the Softride fork, like in the bikepedia link, as well ?

good luck with the sale

i would love to have this, just to see how it rides but alas i can not afford it at the minute.

never seen one before

It is a "unique" bike....all I have been able to find is the Bikepedia info and not alot else they did also make one with a flexy carbon fibre toptube/seat thats more like the road bike design. But not seen another of these! But 6" of rear travel for back then was pretty impressive!

How the frame could look built up (not my pics or bike but same frame...)

Very interesting, but what a pointless design! Its rigid from front to back, its basicly a hardtail with a boingy seat!

Thats what I thought Matt then thought about the design process...perhaps they were thinking out of the saddle for uphill, seated on the downs!...
