Ammoco ?

Whilst sifting through ebay I came across a rigid chromoly steel mtb of yesteryear fitted with some nice kit from a company called Ammoco.

Upon googling the name I came up with lots of cheap nasty bikes of today and some BMX reference but nothing about older quality mtb's.

Can anyone tell me anything about Ammoco, its always nice to learn of a new to me make from the past.

Cheers

Don't know about Ammoco other than petrochemical giants :D but the BMXs were Ammaco part of Mongoose I think :?:

Yeah made mtb's early on. Usually quite cheap and nasty but remember a couple of pro's riding for them.

Got a few scans somewhere.

I remember them (just) and i went looking on the net. But just found stuff about BMX and a mention of reto-ness. So not much use :(

there was an article in an early mbuk about Andrew Kingsly Tubbs riding the cornish cliffs on one and he was sponsored by them IIRC. He ran the bike shop in Truro when I lived down there 13 years ago. Opposite Burger King if any Cornish RB'ers know it.

2 of my school mates were brothers and raced successfully for Ammaco Mongoose on BMX's.
I used to get little freebies now and then. I think that it was only this year I finally chucked out my Ammaco Mongoose calculator!
Needed a skip just for that as it was so big.

would that've been truro cycles, or clive mitchells next door to the toy shop?

Ammaco in my opinion wernt that good
