hi
picked this up locally this evening. i believe it is a Ti-Mega, unless someone can tell me otherwise. would like to know what year it is. can anyone tell me how to identify the year this one is? i looked for a serial number. all i found was a 4 digit number on bottom of bottom bracket tube `6076'. hoping the alpinestars experts out there can help me start this project. then i can possibly get a correct set of decals. :D
also, can anyone tell me what the steer tube size is on this. i thought they were supposed to be 1 1/4" but the guy i bought it off said it is 1 1/2". which i haven't heard of. i will be pulling it apart and measuring but thought i'd ask.
thanks
roy

Certainly looks like a ti-mega. It will be either a 1991 or 1992 (they are identical, except for in the brochures (the '91 shows a pre production version)), decals for both years are available from gil_m on the forum.

Hi. Mine has a1 1/4" head tube.

Happy trails

hi
been looking thru the forum on build ideas for this frame. can't decide what direction to take. go with something as original as i possibly can. or looking relatively original with a newer running gear. upgrade to 9 speed. or totally pimped out. since it could be considered a bare frame. one thing i know i'd like to do is go with a rigid front fork. i don't like the look of the red manitou on it now. and i know i will never find the titanium fork to match it. so if any of you out there have an alpinestars fork you can part with i am interested. head tube length is 5 1/8". a steer tube in the 7" range is needed. can be aluminum or steel. any input on pro's and con's of one material over the other mated to titanium would be appreciated. also would like build ideas from all.
thanks
roy

Re:

Holy Cow!!! 2011 !!!!
i think it's about time i got to working on this one.
don't you agree? snowed in this weekend so i have been
rooting around in the basement and dragged this frame out.
finished the decals. i was surprised that i found where i had put them.
look for it in the coming month. build won't be to everyone's liking.
