Alan McNish....

McNish does have a tendency to put his Audi where he shouldn't.
I have a sense of deja vu - every year there's a "McNish collects slower car" report.
Really nice guy and I wish him all the best - but to finish first, you must first finish.

Really? He's raced at 12 Le Mans races and only failed to finish 4 times. And only 2 of those out of 6 starts for Audi. Not a clue how many of those were down to him though. Also managed to win the American Le Mans series 3 times and Sebring 3 times. He seems to be doing something right.

Don't get me wrong - I like McNish and have followed him for years.
Had a long chat to him in Texas at an ALMS race in about 1999
Not always accidents, but warnings etc for contact/being rough with the slower cars.
IMHO, of the Audi drivers, he the one that always seems to have the incidents at Le Mans

I think he's in the team as the "charger". If you have a 2 or 3 driver line up on a car you need contrasting styles and I think McNish is the guy for the laps when time is needed to be made. The fast early laps and the possible need to make up ground later on.
