I had previously built this bike up with full XTR M952 kit 3x9 etc and while I liked it, I found that it didn’t really fit the bill for me.
I did actually offer the frame for sale a while back once I’d broke it down and sold most of the components but no interest, so I stashed it away for a while.
Sometimes it’s good to come back to things afresh. I decided to rebuild this with some parts I had and a few others I needed to buy. Wanted to make this my go-to hardtail as it really rides nicely and is a perfect fit for me.

I got a fair bit done on it today, needs rear brakes (v’s), controls and cables to finish.
Looking good so far, will upload photos once complete and do a spec list too..

These are quality frames: I bought my Carpe Diem from Airborne in (I think) 2005 to use as my commuter. The service from the company was superb and at the time the online build-a-bike function was very whizzy.

I love the ride; it's done duty in triathlons, centuries, and a lot of back and forth in London. I've ridden it in South Africa, Singapore, and now Australia -- it's received the obligatory fat tyres and now gets 'gravel' outings in between MTB excursions. I can't see myself ever getting rid of it.

Think that’s everything, will update with a few more pics when I get out for a decent ride on it.

Great looking build with some very nice bits! I maintain that billy bonkers are one of the best looking 'modern' tyres you can get. There's not much that they dont look good on.
