Hi :D

Got a couple of seatpin queries that I'm sure someone here can answer for me. I've included a couple of photo's to help.

Query #1
Anyone out there restored a Syncros seatpin.... whats my best course of action? Paint it to get that black finish back or rub it back and get it anodised. Graphics aren't an issue as a couple of menbers of this forum ended up with a few when I didn't check the quantity settings!! :D
It's a 27.2 in a 430mm length by the way.

Query #2
Anyone know what this 2nd seatpin is or is from? Got a free bag of stuff from a colleague and this was in it. It's a 27.2 in a 400mm length. Depending on how I restore the Syncros... I could also do this one at the same time.
Any ideas?

Cheers

Looks a lot like the Tioga that came on my 1991 GT Team Avalanche.

I have'nt restored a Syncros pin but i did paint a pin in the past, worked ok too, it was a silver pin i wanted black, sanded it down with a Scotchbrite pad, used black car paint then a couple of coats of enamel laquer (plasticote), only painted the section of the pin not in the frame, (obviously no use if you move the pin up and down a lot) chips did show up after a while though, would work better if repainting a black pin i think.

Getting black anodised would be the proper thing to do though

Thanks guys.... I think it's safe to say that the mystery pin is a tioga from a GT then!! :D

.... As for the syncros, cheers for the advice Jimi. Black anodising would be the way to go but I'm usure what prep I'd need to do to it and how much it would cost. Do I need to take it back to the raw aluminium for anodising... or is it more like another coat on top of what I've already got? :?
