98 SIDs

"There is 100mm of fork leg under the rubber gator so I guess that means there is 100mm of travel or pretty close to it."

Whereas in fact the travel is 63mm.

I never like to see the arch so high up relative to the crown. Maybe it's just that I'm used to 80mm ones, but it just looks as though there's not much air in them.

They might be a little flat I guess. Probably looks worse since these SIDs had a shorter lower leg casting in comparison to the preceeding Judys.

I expect you're right. I'm just a cheapskate. I want to buy a 1998 fork that doesn't need a service.

I think Tim Flooks used to replace the seals and bushings on these with superior ones from later years as a matter of course.

The 98 SID bushes were really poor, 1/2 the heigh of the normal judy ones. The seals also improved a lot.
