I finally got round to picking this back up from the folks, it's been hanging feeling forgotten for the last 8years after being a trusty friend.

I say it's a 97 but can't remember when I ordered it, so it could be a 95/96 as I remember what car I was driving when I had it  I ordered it off Greg as a replacement for my Salsa a la carte that was stolen off the back of the car :x and having been unhappy with the ride of a Marin TT that I rode for all of 3months!

As you can see it's running RC36 Evo IIIs at the mo but I do have the rigid Gumbo fork that it came with back then, which weighs a scarey 780gms.

The thought that whizzed thru my head when I loaded it up was to SS it over the winter and give it some good TLC, but I have a feeling after tomorrows get to know each other ride tomorrow, it'll end up with a few tweeks and I'll get rid of the fat ass Santa Cruz Chameleon.

Even tho its WCS logic tubing I rode it for 3weeks across Mexico on an Exodus trip way back and it survived before coming home and having a full strip down and being kitted out with the XTR, only ommissions from a full set up are the WTB New Paradigm hubs and the XT front mech as a top up XTR was available at the time.

Anyway a few pics for now and I'll post up full spec later.

8) I have a '96 Fuquay. Not many around. Only seen about 4 or 5 on the forum.

Nice, tall fella  you running 1-1/8" headset? Was ordering mine as the old will it be 1" or 1-1/8" standard argument was kicking off, I thought why would they change

It's 1 1/8".

Yes and it's the only 26er that I have found that fits me (long legs, short back). My daily rider is a custom built 29er.

nice bikes and all that, but how the hell do you pronounce that name without sounding like a swearing mc retro member?

Pronounced 'Foo-kway' I believe

I wanted one since I read an interview with Greg himself, in MBUK in like 1991.

Apparently they do ride really really well. 8) 8)

Chipps' smokey bacon one helped make my mind up.

The one thing that worried me when I picked it up was the seatpost being seized in after all this time, quick spin of the allen key and out it slid.

:( mine's seized in solid (on my watch, too  ). Still, not planning on selling and it's at the right height :D

I'll be honest while mine fits me nicely it is a very stiff frame, it almost feels like aluminium. I can only ride it for short periods of time :(
