Hey all!

For sale is my '96 Kona Lava Dome Frame. This is a beautiful frame in the grooviest dark, sparkle green which has served me so well over the last 7 months.

I built it up as a drop bar 26" tourer which certainly turned a lot of heads and rode like a charm. I've come to realize however that is really doesn't fit me well enough. I like to have a really low standover frame, but the massive wedge of seatpost sticking out just isn't my thing.

The frame is in great condition with the paintwork in mostly ace condition. Little chips here and there, but really surprisingly good.

Sizes etc are as follows:

  • 19.5" Centre of bb to top of seatpost
22.5" Top tube from centre of seat tube to centre of steerer.
    68mm English Threaded bb
    1 1/8" Steerer

Once slight eccentricity of the frame was that it never had a cable stop at the seat tube end of the headtube so I had to buy a 'dog collar' adapter from SJS. I'll include this alongside the plain jane seat clamp with the bike.

I'm looking for £50 for the frame OBO.

I also have a matching wheelset (Which I had years before I bought the frame. Weird) with a Java the Hub front and XT Parallax rear laced to Mavic 220's with DT Spokes. The wheels have just been trued and are running very smooth. One of the silver cones that covers the bearings on the Java the hub has gone missing but I've ridden the bike through some atrocious conditions and it's still happy.

Looking for £40 obo for the wheels.

Will do the wheels and frame together for £80 posted via courier.

The bike is still built up as I don't want to have it in pieces and not sell for ages so if you are local to me (PH7 4HL) you are more than welcome to come see what a bizzare 26" tourer rides like (:

Here's two pictures of the bike during a tour around the Loire valley in full 'costume'

Cheers all, Jack

I don't know a vast amount about them, but they're a set of Specialized B-Tech forks from the period. The crown to drop-out length is pretty close to the P2's and I don't think the handling has been compromised really.

I was hoping to keep the forks to put on a hard rock, but they certainly aren't as rare as hens teeth or anything so I would be happy to include them for an extra tenner (What I paid for them) or something.

'96 Kona Lava Dome Frame

Going by the catalogues in the archive section this looks more like a '94.

have you got any better pics of the frame?

What is the actual measurement from centre of BB to the top of the seat tube?

Is your price inc postage? if not how much would the frame be to post?

Lovely looking frame though!

I assume this frame will accept a standard threadless 1 1/8" headset?, as I have a pair of project 2 forks that could fit this.

Yes, it does take a 1 1/8" set of forks (:

Will got those photos for you tomorrow, was a really long day, got back pretty late! Macaroni and melting into the couch has totally taken priority!
