Hi all,
So, following my earlier thread here: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... highlight= i've nearly finished my '93 Explosif I'm pleased to say.
I'm angling at trying to get it similar to original spec if I can rather than decking it out in trick parts, so I'm pleased I've managed to get hold of things like the A and B
rive tyres, XT thumbies, XTR rear mech etc.
The spec as of today is:
Frame: Tange Prestige Double-Butted with fluted downtube
Fork: Double-Butted Project 2’s from ‘95 (looking for '93's)
Headset: Kona Impact 1 1/8”
Stem: Trek T2 (got to change this!)
Handlebar: Kona Racelight 165
Grips: Kona Racelight
Barends: X-Lite Alto Pro
Brakes: Ritchey Logic
Brake Pads: Ritchey Logic
Brake Cables: Shimano
Cantilever cable hangers: ?
Brake Levers: Ritchey Logic
Shifters: Deore XT M732 (hidden eighth click)
Front Derailleur: Deore XT M732
Rear Derailleur: Deore XTR M910
Derailleur Cables: Shimano
Cassette: Deore XT M737 Hyperglide 12-28
Chain: ?
Cranks: Sugino (Fuse XD500?)
Chainrings: Ritchey
Chainring bolts: Alloy
Bottom Bracket: Shimano cartridge
Pedals: Shimano SPD 520
Hub Skewers: Deore XT
Rims: Mavic 217 SUP
Hubs: Deore XT Parallex M737
Nipples: Coloured alloy
Spokes: Stainless Double-Butted 15g
Tyres: Front Kona Arive 2.2”, Rear Kona Brive 2.0”
Saddle: Selle Italia Flite Alpes Titanium
Seatpost: ? In-line
Seatpost Binder: Kona
Weight: I reckon about 23lbs (going to get it weighed properly soon)
The stem and forks still need changing (I've got a stem from that year which is a bit long, but forks I still need - anyone?)
(I was actually going to apologise for it being muddy in the photo's - but every decent mountain bike should be of course!!
)
Any constructive comments, suggestions or ideas very welcome (V-brakes had crossed my mind but not for the purists :shock: )
(Oh, and the Cinder Cone will be on sale soon if anyone's interested )
