i bought this of a member on here ,more out of curiosity than amything
else ,it arrived yesterday ,and there was a genuine WOW when i unpacked it , i got it put together and took it out for a wee thrash round my hill ,the shocks a bit soft ,tbh it looks as tho its been commuted on by someone short ,semi slicks short seatpost ,bit of salt
type corrosion on the shock .but not the frame ,all in very pleased
with my self
so i got the shock off and into work today ,i had to cut the pre-load adjuster off as it was solid ,so i made another ,then i put the shock
body in the lathe and machined the corrosion away ,quick shotblast
on the spring and some paint and ready for re-assembly
the bike according to vintage cannondale was sold with suntour xc comp
stuff but it's nearly all lx thats on it so someones had that away
tho the seller did give me the xc comp chainset and some nice lx cantis
so they will be getting fitted soon ,need to change the tyres for some raptors too
some pics

Thats fantastic Mikee :)

How does it ride?

Are you going to have to use the force 40 hangers or have you something else in mind?

chris

the force 40's are going back on along with the early lx cantis

it rides fine but the rear cons you into thinking suss, but the front
still does that falling into holes then the flexstem throw all your weight
forward thing ,just need to get used to it ,few more rides on it i think
it's nice tho

There's something wrong on the third picture, you put the shocker "upside down" !
I'm happy for you. It's a cool bike. Ok, it's not the better suspension, and the rear is so flexy, and the front to stiff !
But adjust the rear shocker without SAG (when you seat on the bike, the shocker don't have to work) and ride it like an hartail, and you'll enjoy it

yup i have noticed and corrected this ,and as i'm sure you know it
makes a difference to how the shock functions
i was suprised just how much the rear flexes when fitting the rear wheel
the rear dropout is "worn" so the wheel will pull if not fitted with care
but i know how to fix this and will do when i get time

When cannondale created the deltaV the next year, they changed the shock, because this part is really important for making the frame stiffness. They didn't change the spindle.

You are lucky because you have a little tube welded between the 2 chainstays. Cannondale added this little part in the last generation of EST. The first were really too flex !

For the rear wheel, prefer a classic stteel shimano QR
