90s Hercules Arizona Cromoly
So, early 90-s ATB by Hercules, model Arizona. Looks like standard not ambitious 80-s all-round with comfy angles ( seattube and stem). Fork has long rake, which proves to be pretty good for a city with hundred paved streets, which life in. Moreover, all that geometry gives surprising feel of comfort and stable bump absorption. Given that’s stiff frameset, with butted main triangle ( possible without seattube, I suppose), it’s more surprising for a middle consumer line! It’s my first frameset from “early era”, it rides on a par with Univega Alpina 7.3 ( 9-6-9 tubeset) and much better than Maxcycles Comp, which was a bit heavy and massive, although Tange Infinity tubes.
What I’m going to say - you don’t need to put wholla lot of money to take pleasant looking good-driven machine, expecting it will win every corner in every competition, but ride on day-by-day with fun and comfort.
Of course, not as fast from scratch as top models ( Marin Team for example), rides about the same as Trek 950 or Giant Track, which I have had in the past)..
Simple decals, top tube logo could be more to the front.
About this set:
New foam grips and levers in basic frameset colours, bowdens also.
Slick tyres for a faster rides, Vredestein Moiree 1.6, wheelset on Araya GT 710 on Shimano parallax hubs and 11-28 hyperglide cassette.
Original Sachs Aris Classic 7 speed group set with Rival shifters, Sugino crankset with alloy 46-36-26 rings, Alivio cantis, new 25.6 alloy seatpost.
Pretend to be stylish commuter bike for everyday ride.
