90 al-mega old beat up build

bought this frame from lord alpinestar of kettering
a bit "patina'ed" but steve reckoned they were great to ride so i thought i'd build it just to see
it is at the moment built to be functional ,with what was to hand that fitted
including a sake power ring chainset , kinda square rather than oval rings
feels a bit inch wormish when climbing in the granny ring ,but seems to work , so will try it out properly up my hill in the morning

any comments?

cheers gaz i have an xtr one to match the front when i find it
got some black cooks somewhare too so they might end up on it eventually
gonna change the bars too

steve you know how bad the frame is ,looks okay from 30 feet tho

Where those frames prone to cracking too or was it just the e-stays?

saying that this one seems to have had a hard time and its still sound

looks pretty cool, i like it. its very fat, its a fat bike. i would whack a flite on it, but thats about all. is the rear skewer in the wrong way around?

well i dicked about with it for a bit then took it up my hill
felt like shit this morning so only did 10 miles , but i did do 100 miles this week so should have been a rest day
any way how does it ride ?
it's brilliant ,it climbs really well and on the windy trails down from the hill its so direct ,and confidence inspiring forget your stumpies and the like ,get one of these
i feel a comparison test between this and an elevated comming up

1990's Alpinestar range was sold on it's 'short stay wheelbase' and I bought my very first one back in 1990 based purely on this...

And it climbed so much better than my mates bikes of the time...
