1988 Specialized Hardrock, owned from new - Norwich Halfords, they knew as much as I did then about mountain bike sizing! i.e. nothing.
Has spent half its life in storage, the other half as a commuter / firetrail & railtrail picnic bike - no hardcore mountain biking.
Moving abroad, can't ship all my bikes...
23 1/2 inch cro-mo frame.
Cro-mo forks.
Pedals, tyres, & saddle not original.
Original back wheel available, but out of true.
Rear tyre at end of life.
Bottom bracket has just started creaking - needs attention NOW.
Well worn but working. Paintjob & decals tatty but all original.
This is what I can see labelled (Sansin is spelled that way on all such components, not Sanshin):
Dia-compe AD990 rear U-brake (not as linked spec below)
Dia-compe front canti.
Suntour XCD 4050 front mech.
Suntour XCD 4050 Accushift rear mech.
Suntour Power Control front friction thumbshifter.
Suntour Accushift rear thumbshifter - 6 speed index or friction selectable.
Sansin Sealed System hubs.
Araya rims.
Sansin front quick-release (bolt-through rear).
Specialized seatpost clamp.
Sugino crankset.
Otherwise spec probably as here, I guess:

...and yes, before he says anything, agency scum once stroked it. He was reluctantly impressed with the cammed adjustment system of the u-brake, although not its stopping power...
