87 Specialized Hardrock

Dave-pils

Retro Newbie
My latest find at reclamation yard. Looked a bit rough initially, lots of surface rust, perished tyres etc. Brakes were left lever front, right rear. Add in the San Francisco bike shop sticker on it I guess it's previous owner brought it over at some point.
Cables, brake blocks, tyres and seat post were replaced. Following a good clean up, what remains is a bike that appears to have had minimal use due to the unblemished look to most components.
It rides nicely and everything feels tight. A great find I think :D

Re:

Thanks. Yes, it's basic but smooth on the road.I was surprised how well the shifters work, but its probably not been used enough to wear anything out yet.

Re:

Nice...I wondered if i would ever see an 87 on here....Bottom of the range but the kit on them is really good...xc7000 sport mechs were as good as deore. Interesting they used a shimano U brake on a suntour/diacomp equipped bike. Pretty rare machine

I must get on and finish mine as it is pretty much spotless.
