84 Dawes Ranger £150 BIN

Interesting how tall the fork is on that. Look at the clearance under the crown.

And check out those long, straight chainstays. Is this what GJW means when he says the early British builders refused to bend the stays for tyre clearance?

After researching these things 'till I'm blue in the face, these were a copy of the early Ritchey/ Fisher, etc frames and are VERY long.

They are good at long all day riding but need a lot of welly to get up hill in a hurry.

Cracking old Dawes

Reminds me of my Old Dawes Wildcat, that had mega long chainstays and was a nightmare to put up hill but was a blast coming down the other side the thing was solid in a straight line too.

Ah, memories.

Thats great 8)

Looks like an equal for the wheelbase of GM's mustang.

Chris, I thought better of you than to insult my Maverick, (mustang ? you are getting confused with another thread)

But the wheelbase has the same articular features to the maverick  and looks like a very cool early bike

Oops sorry mate  just a typo

Blumming 'eck you could fit a small child behind the seat tube!

Think how much fun that would be downhill with some massive tyres on.
