8 speed shifters 7 speed block?

Seem to remember 7 speed thumbies would still work an 8 speed block, as some later models had an extra click! but will 8 speed Sti shifters index properly on a 7 speed cassette? I know I'll lose a notch!

as far as i'm aware, spacings are the same for 8 and 7 speed systems, so it should work without issues

Yeah it should work as the spacing is the same on 7 or 8 speed cassettes, you'll just have an unused 'click' on the shifter.

Yes, works just fine - this is exactly what I have on one of my bikes.
